The Canadian Board of Examiners for Professional Surveyors is a federally incorporated body that represents the Association of British Columbia Land Surveyors, the Alberta Land Surveyors Association, the Saskatchewan Land Surveyors Association, the Association of Manitoba Land Surveyors and the Association of Canada Land Surveyors.
The Canadian Board of Examiners also administers the academic examinations, which are common amongst these professional associations, for individuals who are seeking a commission or licence to practise professional surveying in one of the respective jurisdictions.
The CBEPS may grant exceptions in any or all of its examinations to candidates who have attended a post secondary educational institute and successfully completed equivalent courses to that of the CBEPS.
For example, students who have obtained a degree in geomatics engineering from a recognized institution such as the University of Calgary or University of New Brunswick are generally exempt from CBEPS examinations altogether as they have successfully completed comparable examinations while attending university. The CBEPS will grant a "Certificate of Completion" to individuals who have successfully completed or received credit for the academic examinations.
